When deciding on a major in college, I had two choices – Communication Design and Art Education. I would have liked nothing more to teach art to children. Realizing the job opportunities would be limited (because honestly, what could be a more fun job than being an art teacher) I chose Communication Design.
Years later, one of the most rewarding parts of my job is to work one-on-one with clients on websites – teaching clients how to optimize their websites, submitting to search engines, creating newsletters and social networking pages.
My main goal is to have clients to be able to at least understand the basic functions of search engines and how those search engines rank and rate their pages. This enables them to evaluate their website periodically and to make sure it comes up in the search engines.
If you are part of an organization, IMD also offers a workshop on search engine optimization. We can show your members some tips on coming up in the search engines without spending a lot of money.
